The Damages of a Leaking Pipe:

Damage and Rot

If your pipes are leaking then there may be more damage that “meets the eye” as they say.

Unfortunately if you let your pipes continue to leak it will cause worse and more permanent damage on your entire house.

Just some of the damages that can occur are and not limited to:

Cause cracks in your foundation

Rot ur beams in the house

Cause your pipes to rust

As anything goes the longer you allow the problem to sit the worse and more expensive it will get for you.

Pipes if leaking can get worse over time and cause a bigger leak and rust a corrosion of your pipes. The worst thing to do is

let it sit and wait for the leak to spread and get into your foundation.

High water pressure is another reason u may have leaking pipes. Most main pipes can only handle up to about 81psi (Pounds per square inch)

anything higher and it can cause you to have pipe damage.

If you were wondering here are the life expectancy out of common supply pipes:

Copper Pipes: 70-80 years.

Brass Pipes: 80-100 years.

Galvanized Steel Pipes: 80-100 years

As all houses do they will shift and settle over time. If you have a leak long enough and your house continues to shift the weakest spots in your pipes

is the connection points. since they can be weakened as the house settles it can cause major damage to your foundation.

If you think you are experiencing any pipe erosion, leaks or any of the problems shut off your water and contact us at Pipe Doctor at 508-775-6670 or email: [email protected] .
